Durante il riavvio o l\u2019avviamento a freddo del motore, la tensione della batteria a 12V di una vettura pu\u00f2 scendere fino a valori inferiori a 4 Volt, provocando il reset dei sistemi di infotainment e di altre dotazioni elettroniche di bordo che funzionano con tensioni di 5V o superiori. Il convertitore boost sincrono ad alta efficienza alimenta i due convertitori step-down, evitando cadute nella tensione di uscita durante gli abbassamenti di tensione della batteria, una caratteristica particolarmente utile nei sistemi di start\/stop dei veicoli che spengono il motore durante le attese per risparmiare carburante. Il convertitore boost sincrono pu\u00f2 generare tensioni in uscita fino a 60V ed \u00e8 in grado di operare con lo switch sincrono completamente ON, al 100% del duty cycle, trasferendo direttamente la tensione d\u2019ingresso quando \u00e8 alta, riducendo il rumore e massimizzando l\u2019efficienza.<\/p>\n<p>I due convertitori step-down sono in grado di generare tensioni in uscita da 0,8V a 24V, con un valore d\u2019efficienza dell\u2019intero sistema che raggiunge il 95%. Il tempo minimo di ON, di soli 45 ns alla frequenza di 2MHz, permette di raggiungere elevati rapporti di conversione in step-down, evitando le bande di frequenza critiche, sensibili alle interferenze, come le AM e richiedendo un ridotto numero di componenti esterni.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019LTC7815 pu\u00f2 essere configurato per il funzionamento in Burst Mode<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>, riducendo la corrente a riposo fino a 28\u03bcA per canale (38\u03bcA con i tre canali in funzione) mentre regola la tensione in uscita in assenza di carico; una caratteristica utile per preservare la carica della batteria nei sistemi always-on. Il potente gate driver, interamente a MOSFET a canale-N da 1,1\u2126, riduce al minimo le perdite da commutazione e fornisce una corrente in uscita superiore a 10A per canale, limitata esclusivamente da componenti esterni. Inoltre, la corrente in uscita da ciascun convertitore viene monitorata misurando la caduta di tensione ai capi dell\u2019induttore (DCR) oppure utilizzando una resistenza di sense separata. L\u2019architettura a frequenza fissa a controllo di corrente dell\u2019LTC7815 permette la scelta di frequenze da 320kHz a 2,25MHz, oppure pu\u00f2 essere sincronizzata con un clock esterno nel medesimo intervallo.<\/p>\n<p>Ulteriori caratteristiche includono un LDO interno per l\u2019alimentazione dell\u2019IC e del gate drive, funzione di tracking della tensione in uscita o soft-start regolabile, un segnale di \u201cpower good\u201d e un ingresso per V<sub>CC<\/sub> esterna.
